Welcome to academic life in Mannheim. In Germany - different from many other countries - many Student Services are bundled at the "Studentenwerk", such as Student Housing, Couselling or Foodservices.
Our aim is to make life as a student easier for you. Students become compulsory members of the Studentenwerk by making a current contribution of 61,50 Euro.
The main aspects of our work are in Catering (in 11 restaurants and cafeterias up to 6,000 guests are catered for per day), in Student Housing (19 halls of residence with some 3,150 places in rooms and flats) and in Funding - BAföG - (approx. 10 million Euro in funding per year). Studentenwerk Mannheim also runs a General Social Counselling, a large nursery and other social institutions.
